Irish VAT invoices and Revenue formatting

VAT-registered traders in Ireland must issue invoices that meet Revenue content rules, including VAT registration number, rates, and amounts. This generator supports multi-rate lines—standard 23%, reduced 13.5% and 9%, zero, and exempt with notes—and a reverse charge toggle for qualifying construction services.

RCT (Relevant Contracts Tax) is not calculated on this invoice template; keep RCT on payments workflows per Revenue guidance.

Worked example: mixed-rate fit-out

Labour and services at 13.5% might total €4,000.00 plus €540.00 VAT, while materials at 23% add €2,000.00 plus €460.00 VAT. Invoice total €7,000.00 inclusive of €1,000.00 VAT if no reverse charge applies.

With domestic reverse charge on the construction slice, VAT on that slice may show as customer accountable—verify wording in notes so your main contractor’s accounts payable team codes it correctly.

EU and export supplies

Intra-EU B2B may use zero VAT with customer VAT number captured in optional fields. Exports outside the EU need concise place-of-supply notes.

We do not validate VIES in the browser; check EU VAT numbers before zero-rating.

Invoice numbering and credit policy

Sequential invoice numbers reduce VAT audit friction. Credit notes should reference the original document ID in meta fields.

Payment terms and late interest policies are editable but not legal advice—mirror what your solicitor approved in your T&Cs.

Local PDF generation

Buyer names, VAT totals, and line descriptions are not transmitted to Doxnest servers during v1 editing. Preview matches download bytes.

Logo upload stays client-side with size limits to protect page weight on mobile data.
